Directions to The Practice Fields

The following is a listing of  fields and facilities where the Renegades Practice:
Map of Brighton High School Field

Brighton High School: 25 Warren Street, Brighton, Mass

By MBTA

  • From Kenmore Station
    • Take Bus #57 to the Warren Street stop
    • Brighton High is set back on the hill behind the Taft School Building and next to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital
  • From Dudley Square or Roxbury Crossing Stations
    • Take Bus #66 to Union Square, then take Bus #57 towards Watertown/Oak Square to the Warren Street stop, as above.
  • From Park Street
    • Take the Green Line-B Train to the Warren St. trolley stop
    • Follow Warren Street to the right for 1/8 mile
    • The high school is on the hill on your left.

By Car

  • From the Mass Pike ( Rt. 90 E or W)
    • Take Exit 20 for Brighton/Cambridge
    • After the toll, follow the signs for Allston/Brighton. This will lead to Cambridge Street
    • Go through 5 lights to Union Square
    • At Union Square, go straight, staying on Cambridge St., to the left of the Twin Donuts
    • Take a sharp left at the 4th light onto Warren Street, after the Taft School Building
    • Brighton High School is on the hill immediately to your right.
  • From Storrow Drive West
    • Take the exit for Western Avenue
    • Take a left at the end of the exit onto Cambridge Street
    • Follow directions above from Cambridge Street.

Public Transportation Directions

  • From Waltham
    • Take Bus 70 or 70A to Arsenal St. and Arlington St.
    • Cross Arsenal, turn right, and cross Arlington
    • Turn left and cross Coolidge Ave. You will be walking on Arlington St
    • Continue walking along Arlington Street and proceed down Arlington Street until you reach the walking track and playground (on your right)
    • Turn right and follow the track
    • Pass the playground and keep walking until you reach the fields
  • From Points West of Waltham
    • The Fitchburg Commuter Rail line Stops in Waltham Center
    • You can pick up the 70 or 70A busses there and proceed with directions above
  • From Central Square
    • Cambridge (Red Line), take  Bus 70 or 70A to Arsenal St. and Arlington St.
    • Walk to the corner (same direction as the bus is going) and turn right
    • Cross Coolidge Ave. You will be walking along Arlington St.
    • Continue walking along Arlington Street until you reach the walking track and playground (on your right)
    • Turn right and follow the track, pass the playground and keep walking until you reach the fields
  • From Harvard Square (Red Line)
    • Take Bus 71 (pick it up on the lower level of bus stops) to Kimball Rd./ Mt. Auburn St. stop (there is a 7-Eleven there)
    • Walk to corner (in the same direction the bus is traveling)
    • Turn left and cross Mt. Auburn St.
    • Proceed down Bigelow Ave, crossing 2 streets and continue to Nichols Ave.
    • Turn left on Nichols and proceed 1 block to Arlington St.
    • Turn right, cross Nichols Ave.
    • Turn left, cross Arlington St.
    • Turn right on Arlington (the street will be on your left)
    • Continue walking along Arlington Street until you reach the waking track and playground (on your left)
    • Turn left and follow the track, pass the playground and keep walking until you reach the fields.
    • Note: This sounds a lot longer and more complicated than it actually is. Most of these are very short blocks.

Driving Directions:

  • From Route 128
    • take Exit 29A for Route 2 East
    • follow to end and bear right onto Rt 16 West/Fresh Pond Parkway (this still Rt 2)
    • Follow past Fresh Pond Mall and new Water treatment plant (you will go thru 2 rotaries)
    • At next lights turn right on Huron Ave (to stay on Rt 16 W)
    • Continue on Rt. 16 West by turning left onto Aberdeen
    • Turn right onto Mt Auburn st
    • At intersection of Arlington St (stop light & gas station on right) turn left onto Arlington St
    • Stay left at fork to go onto Grove St
    • Follow for almost .5 miles and turn right in Flipello Park
    • Park in Lot, field is ahead of you.
  • From Storrow Drive
    • Follow towards Newton.
    • Pass TV 4 on your left
    • Look for the Brighton Center/Watertown exit on your right
    • Get off at that exit and turn right onto Arsenal St
    • Go over Charles River, and immediately turn right onto Greenough Blvd.
    • Take first left onto Grove St.
    • Follow up hill and across Coolidge Ave.
    • Entrance to Park is ahead on left, Park in Lot, and walk to field.
  • From the Mass Pike
    • Take Cambridge/Allston exit
    • Follow the Brighton sign
    • At 3rd set of lights take a right onto Lincoln St. and follow to end
    • At lights (Hogan’s Run Pub on corner) take right onto Birmingham Pkwy
    • At second set of lights, turn left onto Arsenal St.
    • See above from Arsenal St.

The Park

On the Grove Street side, the park is across from a cemetery and has a little wooden sign that says Fillipello Field, It is directly after the third building (Igo’s Welding Supply) if coming from Coolidge Avenue side of Grove Street. You can not see the park from this street as there is a long driveway that leads up to the field. The Arlington Street side is much easier to find as you can see the field from the street.

Driving Directions:

From Waltham:

  • Take Rt 128 North to Exit 35 (Rt 38)
  • Stay on Rt 38 and go under 128
  • Go 1/2 mile take right on to Alfred Street
  • Alfred Street becomes Forest Park Rd
  • Take a Right on School Street and follow for 3/10 of a mile
  • Take a left on Ryan Rd for 2/10 of a mile
  • Take a left on Industrial Parkway for 2/10 of a mile
  • Take a right on Everberg Rd
  • Follow Everberg till the end where the road will widen into a circle
  • Take an immediate right in the circle into a driveway and go down a hill
  • the Warehouse in front of you…go to the left and go behind it
  • The cages are behind it
  • Look for a door marked “17K” with “S.O. Express” on it…this is the door to the cages we use – see picture to the right

Public Transportation Directions

  • From North Station get on the Commuter rail to the Lowell Line
  • It will be about 4 stops to Anderson/Woburn station (102 Atlantic Avenue)
  • We will pick you up…as its 2 miles from the location
  • From 102 Atlantic Avenue (Also the Logan Airport Park and go)
  • Take a right on Commerce Way for 1 mile
  • Right on to Mishawum Rd which turns int Industrial Parkway
  • Take a right on Everberg Rd
  • Follow Everberg till the end where the road will widen into a circle
  • Take an immediate right in the circle into a driveway and go down a hill
  • The Warehouse in front of you…go to the left and go behind it
  • The cages are behind it
  • Look for a door marked “17K” with “S.O. Express” on it…this is the door to the cages we use – see picture to the right

Arsenal Park, 485 Arsenal St, Watertown, Mass

Public Transportation Directions

  • From Waltham
    • Take bus Rt. #70 or 70A (toward University Park).
    • Exit the bus at the “500 Arsenal St./Watertown and Arsenal Mall: stop.
    • After exiting the bus, turn right and walk to the corner. When you reach the corner, turn left.
    • Continue straight. You will need to make two crossings. The first crossing you will cross is a road which leads to a section of the Arsenal Mall parking lot on your left. The second intersection is a two-way intersection leading to and from the main entrance of the Arsenal Mall.
    • After making the second crossing, turn right and walk until the sidewalk ends.
    • When the sidewalk ends, turn left. The field will be approximately 100 yards straight ahead. When you notice the road turning to the right, you are near the field. The field will be on your left.
  • From Central Sq Station (Cambridge):
    • Take bus Rt. #70 (Toward Cedarwood) or #70A (toward Lakeview)
    • Exit the bus at the “Watertown Mall & Arsenal Mall” stop.
    • After exiting the bus, turn left and walk to the crosswalk. There will be a slight decline under your feet which will serve as an indicator that you have reached the crosswalk to cross Arsenal Street
    • Cross Arsenal Street.
    • After crossing Arsenal Street, continue straight. You will need to make two crossings. The first crossing you will cross is a road which leads to a section of the Arsenal Mall parking lot on your left. The second intersection is a two-way intersection leading to and from the main entrance of the Arsenal Mall.
    • After making the second crossing, turn right and walk until the sidewalk ends.

Note: When walking on the road which leads to the field, white cane users should stay close to the curb on the left as possible for there are no sidewalks on this portion of the journey. Also, cars are sometimes parked on this road.

Driving Directions:

  • From Storrow Drive:
    • Follow towards Newton. TV 4 is on your left.
    • Take the Brighton Center/Watertown exit and turn right onto Arsenal St.
    • Go through two sets of traffic lights.
    • At the third set of traffic lights, turn left into the Arsenal Mall (main entrance).
    • At Marshalls, turn right.
    • At the end of the building, turn left.
    • Enter Arsenal Park and field will be directly ahead.
    • Park in field lot.
  • From Route 93:
    • Follow directions from Storrow Drive
  • From Route 128:
    • Get on Mass Pike and take the Cambridge/Allston exit.
    • Follow the Brighton sign.
    • At 3rd set of lights take a right onto Lincoln St. Follow to end.
    • At lights (Hogan’s Run Pub on corner) take right onto Birmingham Pkwy.
    • At second set of lights, turn left onto Arsenal St.

Public Transportation Directions

  • Take the 70 Cedarwood bus to the intersection of Main and Grant street (Called Grant Street on the bus announcement)
  • From there take a left one block and take a right on to Bacon Street
  • Take Bacon street to the 4th block which is Athletic Field Road
  • Take a right on to Athletic Field road
  • Pass the football field and track on your left
  • The gate to the field will be on the left side of the road (there is no sidewalk on the left side of the road)

Driving Directions

  • From Route 128:
    • Take Exit 27A, Totten Pond Road
    • Head east on Totten Pond Road all the way to the end
    • At the lights take a sharp right onto Bacon Street
    • Go straight thru 1 set of lights, take a left after the stadium onto Athletic Field Road
    • The field is on the left after the stadium
  • From Route 20 Heading West:
    • Take a right on Lexington Stree
    • Take your 3rd left after Demo’s restaurant on to Athletic Field road
    • Follow to the bend in the road and the gate to the field will be right near where the bend in the road is

The Field

The field we use is actually the tiny field between the track and the baseball field. There is a gate to enter to this field located on athletic field road close to the baseball diamond.

Public Transportation Directions

  • The closest bus stop to Main St & Westminster Ave is the Main St & Edenfield Ave stop (approximately one block past the intersection of Main & Westminster).
  • This stop is served by bus route 70 (to Cedarwood) and 70A (to Lakeview).
  • Those who use the bus will have to exit the bus, turn right, and walk approximately 1 block to Main & Westminster.
  • After approaching the intersection, cross Westminster and then turn left. Walk a short distance and the field will be on the right.
  • If you are coming from the direction of Waltham, take Route 70 or 70A (to University Park) and exit the bus at Main St & Howard St, cross over main St, turn right, and walk approximately 1 block to Main St & Westminster Ave. After reaching the intersection, cross over Westminster Ave, turn left, and walk a short distance on Westminster. The field will be on the right.

Driving Directions

  • From Watertown Square:
    • Go West approximately 2/3 mile on Main Street from Watertown Square
    • Take a right turn onto Westminster Ave.
    • The field is on your right.
  • From Cambridge:
    • Take Mt. Auburn Street ( which becomes Rte. 16 at the Mt. Auburn Cemetary entrance) all the way to Watertown Square
    • Take a right turn onto Main Street
    • Follow the directions above.
  • From Waltham:
    • Proceed East on Main Street ( Rte. 20) toward Watertown Square
    • Take left turn onto Westminster Ave, which is 2 short blocks after turn signal on Lexington St.
  • From Mass. Pike:
    • Get off at exit 17 and follow signs for Watertown Square
    • After crossing Charles River, merge into left lane(s) and turn left (West) onto Main Street
    • Follow the directions above.
  • From 95 South:
    • Take exit for Main Street, Waltham (Rte. 20 ) and follow directions above
  • From 93 South:
    • Take exit for Storrow Drive West to the end ( Bus Depot on left )
    • Take right turn to cross Charles River and follow directions
    • Follow directions above

From the West

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike east to Exit 18 (Allston/Cambridge). After paying toll, bear left at fork towards Allston. Turn right at second set of lights onto North Harvard Street. Proceed approximately one mile. The following facilities will be on your left: Harvard Stadium, Bright Hockey Center, Blodgett Pool, Palmer Dixon Tennis Courts, Beren Tennis Center, Gordon Track, Cumnock Field, Jordan Field, O’Donnell Field, and the softball field. Ohiri Field, used for soccer, will be on your right. For football, men’s ice hockey, and men’s basketball, you must have a Gate 8 parking pass to enter at this location. Public parking is available for football at Gate 14, which is accessible from Soldiers Field Road.

From the North

Take I-93 south to Storrow Drive exit. Take Storrow Drive west for approximately five miles. Exit at Harvard Square/North Harvard Street. At top of exit, turn left onto North Harvard Street . Approximately 1/4 mile on your right will be the entrance for Harvard Stadium, Bright Hockey Center, Blodgett Pool, Palmer Dixon Tennis Courts, Beren Tennis Center, Gordon Track, Cumnock Field, Jordan Field, O’Donnell Field, and softball field. Ohiri Field, used for soccer, will be on your left. For football, men’s ice hockey, and men’s basketball, you must have a Gate 6 parking pass to enter at this location. Public parking for football is available at Gate 14, which is accessible from Soldiers Field Road.

From the South

Take I-95 north to I-93 north. Follow I-93 until Exit 20 (Massachusetts Turnpike). Take Mass. Pike west to Exit 20 (Allston/Cambridge). After paying toll, bear left at fork towards Allston. Turn right at second set of lights onto North Harvard Street. Proceed approximately one mile. Alternative From the Southwest/Northwest

Take Route 128 (I-95) to Massachusetts Turnpike. Take Mass. Pike east to exit 18. (Allston/Cambridge). After paying toll, bear left at fork towards Allston. Turn right at second set of lights onto North Harvard Street. Proceed approximately one mile. The following facilities will be on your left: Harvard Stadium, Bright Hockey Center, Blodgett Pool, Palmer Dixon Tennis Courts, Beren Tennis Center, Gordon Track, Cumnock Field, Jordan Field, O’Donnell Field, and the softball field. Public parking for football is available at Gate 14, which is accessible from Soldiers Field Road.

Via M.B.T.A.

The Red Line subway stops at Harvard Square. The Soldiers Field Complex is a 10-minute walk from the square, down JFK St. and over the Charles River. Several bus routes make stops at Harvard Square as well. The 66 and 86 routes include stops on North Harvard Street in front of Harvard Stadium.
