This was the first game of the year for Boston but the 5th game of the year for Indy who had finished 2nd in a 4 team tourney the previous weekend.  Boston had made some changes on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and this would be the first test of the season.  All game long, the teams would have an eye to the sky with thunderstorms in the forecast.  Boston would start of the season with back-to-back strike-outs by Dino Vasile and Shayne Cantan and after two innings Boston was already down 9-2 and the Renegades had 5 strike outs in 8 at-bats.  The Indy Thunder's bats were booming on a wet field and the Lewis brothers plated three of Indy's five first inning runs.  The New Boston defense struggled as it only made 4 stops in the first 13 balls put into play as every position on the field struggled.  Indy hit the ball very well and found themselves up 12-5 before the teams were pulled off the field in the 5th inning due to Tornado warnings.  After a 90 minute delay, the Thunder finished off Boston by scoring three insurance runs in the 5th.  Five of the six starters for Indy would plate at least 2 runs each.  Ron Brown would plate three runs on his way to being named the 2nd best hitter of the tournament (hitting .647).  With 2 outs in the 6th inning, Rookie Aqil Sajjad would give the Renegades something to cheer about as he became the first Renegade in team history to score a run in his first at-bat.  Boston's pitcher Ron Cochran would whiff 42% of the hitters for his 2nd worst start of his career.  The MVP of the game would be Jerry Windell who scored four times and made a stop on defense for the Thunder.  The win marked the 3rd straight victory Indy has had over Boston.

Both teams came into this game after losing by large margins to their previous opponent.  This would be the Fighting Lions second game of their exsistence as 5 of their 6 starters had no prior NBBA experience.  Boston may have taken them too lightly as their defensive problems from the previous game did not seem to be solved. The Fighting Lions scored on every ball they put into play in the first two innings as they clung to their first lead ever 3-2 over Boston.  The Boston defense would wake up and the fighting Lions would only score on 2 of their next 8 balls they put in play the remainder of the game.  Their 12 strike outs would not put enough pressure on the Boston defense.  The Lions Kept this game close with some good defense up the middle of the field as the Renegades got a dose of rookie Evan Van Duyne who made 5 stops on his way to being named to the all defense team with 16 stops in the tournament.  Steve Guerra also pitched in 3 stops for the Fighting Lions.  Thankfully for the Renegades, Shayne Cantan snapped out of his funk (the first Renegade ever to strike out 5 times in a game) and he plated three runs to lead the Renegade charge with runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings.  He would be the MVP of this game.

Boston entered this game with a 6 game losing streak to the Kansas All-Stars, the longest losing streak in team history.  Kansas looked ripe for the taking as they had no subs and two of their players had leg injuries limiting their mobility.   The story of this game was the Kansas defense and some poor base running by the Renegades. For the first time this season, Boston led off the game with 4 balls in play but could only manage one run as three different All-Stars made stops. The first 4 batters for Kansas would plate runs to give Kansas a 4-1 lead after one frame.  In the 2nd, Boston would tie it up as Shayne Cantan, JJ Ward and Sengil Inkiala plated runs. But with 2 outs in the bottom of the second Kansas would get hot and score 4 more consecutive runs to give them an 8-4 lead. Boston scratched back in the 3rd as Dino Vasile and Shayne Cantan scored to pull within 2 runs. In the 3rd frame Steve Stambaugh would lead off with a run but Woodard would ground out to Shayne Cantan, Dobbs would strike out and Jordy Stringer would ground out to Zuccarello and the score was just 9-6.  Boston could feel the mojo shifting as both Woodard and Stringer could barely get down the line.   Down 11-6 with 2 outs in the bottom of the fourth the game was postponed due to lightning.  It was decided the game would be restarted at 7:00am on Sunday morning.  Boston would find out this game would be meaningful.  Win the game and play for the championship on Sunday.  Lose by 6 or more runs and play for last place.  Lose by less than 6 runs and play for 5th place.  The game restarted on Sunday and Kansas put Boston away with their 5/6 hitters, Dobbs and Stringer leading off with hits.  Boston would lose the game and a tie breaker scenario (due to Indy getting upset by Minnesota for the Fighting Lion's first franchise win) and go to the Toilet bowl to play for last place. Stambaugh would be named the offensive MVP of the tourney (.685) and make the all-defensive team (14 stops).  Doug Biggins would make the offensive team (.632). Stambaugh would be the MVP of this game with 3 runs and 5 defensive stops.

Cleveland had lost all of their games the previous day to Chicago (11-9), Colorado (14-3) and Wichita (3-0).  They had a small roster and had been banged up.  Coach Jeff Dell would be forced into action despite major knee injuries and he would score the first run of the game for Cleveland to stake them to a 1-0 lead.  Shayne Cantan would tie it up in the first as Cleveland made three defensive stops on the Boston offense.  In the second inning, Vasile and Cantan would go back to back to give the Renegades a 3-1 lead.  Both teams would put the ball into play often and both teams played some good defense.  Boston would open things up in the 5th inning as Vasile, Shayne Cantan and Joey Buizon would plate runs to give Boston some insurance and a 4 run lead heading into the last frame.  In the 6th Justen Cantan entered the game and made 3 stops on the right side of the field to clinch the win and the toilet bowl.  Boston had its 2nd best ever game in team history  in putting balls into play as they put 91% of their at bats into play.  The Scrappers were helped by Brian Peebles who made 9 of the 13 stops for Cleveland on his way to winning the defensive MVP of the tournament with 26 stops.  Cleveland put 83% of their at bats into play which was the most active of any team Boston faced in the tournament.  Five different Boston defenders would make stops led by Darren Black (6) who set a career milestone by recording his team leading 300th put-out in team history.  Shayne Cantan would be the MVP of the game with his 4 run performance (the 3rd time he has done this in his short career).  He would finish the tournament with 10 hits in his 11 at-bats after starting 0 for 5 with 5 strike outs.

The New Jersey Lightning would enter this game as a first year team with a two game winning steak and a lot of confidence.  Captain, Sherlock Washington would start the game off with a bang and put the Lightning ahead.  The Renegades continued their slow start as they went down 1-2-3 as Sherlock Washington did it on defense as well, making two stops in the second line of the New Jersey defense off the bats of Dino Vasile and Larry Haile.  In the second inning, New Jersey's Kevin Szott would take a hard fall while running down the baseline and would eventually have to leave the game in an ambulance with a suspected dislocated shoulder.  At this point the field was deemed unsafe to play on and a change would be made for the rest of the day on this field.  Only 3rd base would be in use for the remainder of the day.  This certainly changed the complexity of the game as a base runner know knew what base they would be running toward.  Washington would be the first batter up after the injury and he would plate his 2nd run of the game to give New Jersey a 2-0 lead.  Boston would fight back as pinch hitter Joe Quintanilla would score in the 2nd and Shayne Cantan, Larry Haile and Justen Cantan would plate runs in the 3rd to give Boston a 4-2 lead.New Jersey would open it up in the 4th inning as they would score two runs on poor defensive play by the Renegades and score a pair of run on good hits as Washington scored his 3rd run of the game.  New Jersey would tack on insurance runs as they outscore Boston 9-2 in the final three frames of the game.  In the end, New Jersey played better defense than Boston stopping 57% of the balls hit into play (vs 45% for Boston) and strike out less.  Sherlock Washington was the MVP of this game with a five for five performance at the plate and 4 stops on defense.

After the loss to New Jersey, The Renegades huddled up and regrouped.  They knew they played a poor game and they knew they needed to wake up.  It started shaky as lead off hitter Ted Fass would plate a run and Jeff Stevens would give Long Island a 2 run lead.  Then it happened.  The bats woke up.  Dino Vasile led off with a long fly ball over the heads of everyone down the right field line.   Shayne Cantan hit a line drive to left center, Larry Haile hit a grounder up the middle, Joey Buizon hit a line drive to Right field and Justen Cantan hit a line drive down the third baseline.  Boston was up 5-2 and 4 of the 5 hits were hit hard.  Boston would plate another 5 runs in the 2nd inning as Larry Haile would score a pair of runs, Vasile, Buizon and Ward would also score.  The route was on.  Never before in the history of this rivalry had Boston held such a commanding lead.  It was not just the bats as Long Island hit the ball hard and often.  Dino Vasile was the story on defense.  In just his second start up the middle, he made 5 huge stops.  The Renegades had not had 5 stops out of this position in the whole season up till this point.  They were all big  hits and took the wind out of Long Island's sails.  In the 4th inning you knew the game was going Boston's way when Nick Esposito hit a hard ground ball up the middle of the field that ricocheted off Justen Cantan about 30 feet to the first baseman, Darren Black who made the stop.  This was the first game since 2007 the the leading defensive player was not one of the shorty players.  In this game, Boston would hit .516 for their 4th best batting average in team history and the 8 run differential would be the 4th largest in team history.  Most importantly for Boston, this was a team victory as four different Renegades scored 3 runs, 6 different players made stops on defense and Boston had proven it could wake up after a dismal start.

Boston could still win the Long Island Classic if they beat the Wolfpack by a large margin and got help from the Long Island Bombers to win a game against the Lightning.  The tie breaker was run differential and the Boston offense would be challenged.  Boston would get two outs before scoring on 4 straight runs by Larry Haile, JJ Ward, Justen Cantan and Evan Silver to lead off the game.  The Wolfpack would look good at the plate early as they put 4 of their first 5 at bats into play with run scoring hits by Scott Hogwood and Mike Patterson.  This would be Hogwood's first ever run in a game.  In fact this pair would also connect for runs in the second frame but they would find themselves down 7-4.  It was all Renegades from here out as the Wolfpack would strike out 7 times in their last 13 at-bats with 5 of those balls hit into play were weakly hit.  Boston came close to a 12 run rule in the 5th inning after putting up crooked numbers in the first 5 frames of the game.  The MVP of this game would be shared by the Cantan brothers as Shayne would pace the offense with 4 runs and his older brother would plate 2 runs and make stops on 4 of the 5 balls hit his way in this contest.  Long Island would go on to beat New Jersey and the Renegades would win the Long Island Classic for the 3rd year in a row on a tie breaker as three teams finished 2-1.

The Wolfpack played host to the Renegades in the 2nd leg of the Beast of the East in Haddonfield, NJ.  As the game started play, the rain started to fall.  In fact, it rained the entire game.  This made things interesting.  Coach Weissman would challenge the Renegades with the "Patterson challenge" before the game started.  The goal was to shut down Mike Patterson who had hit very well and supplied most of the Wolfpack offense against Boston in the past.  Shut down Patterson and the players could make up Wednesday's practice plan. If Patterson scored  the team would do a lot of running.  Patterson led the game off with a strike out but with 2 outs Matt Shields would score on a short ball into the right side of the field to give the wolf pack a lead in the first.  The Hawaiians would score a pair of runs in the 1st inning and then in the second inning Larry Haile and Shayne Cantan would plate another pair to give Boston a lead that they would hold for the rest of the game. Boston would put 17 of their 20 balls into play and many of them were hit solid.  The wet slow grass combined with great defense by the entire Wolfpack team slowed down the Boston Offense.  The sloppy field conditions also caused some problems on the base paths for Boston as they lost a few runs due to poor base running.  For the Wolfpack, the story was strike outs.  Every hitter in their line up struck out 3 times as they only put 3 balls into play.  The scary moment of the game came in the 3rd inning when Scott Hogwood swung his bat and missed but the bat slipped out of his wet hands and landed in foul territory near the Boston bench.  In fact, thrown bats were a problem on this day as three hitters lost the grip on their bats.  This would eventually postpone the whole tournament.  This win would give Boston 3 wins and  1 Loss in the Beast of the East.  The players would win the "Patterson challenge" as he would ground out to Darren Black in the 6th inning for the only defensive stop Boston would make all game.

Boston had beaten the Wolfpack twice in 2010 and had a 5 game winning streak against this opponent dating back to 2008.  This would be the first home game Boston had had since 2008 and the team was excited to be hosting the first ever Blind Citizens Beep Baseball Championship in Sudbury, Mass.  The weather was hot and sticky and the fans started to roll in.  Coach Bryan Grillo entered the huddle before the game and spoke to the team about the movie Rudy as the team took the field to a chant of "not in our house".  Boston would make 2 stops in the first inning as Guy Zuccarello and Justen Cantan would put out the 2/3 hitters for the Wolfpack.  As they came off the field, Coach Weissman would state...thats one more stop then we made all last game against them!    Larry Haile would lead off the game with a line shot into right center to give Boston the lead that they would not relinquish.  Fast forward to the 3rd inning and the Wolfpack were down 3-0 and had been stopped on 5 of the hits they had put into play.  Matt Shields hit a ball down the first base line that scooted by Zuccarello and he called for help as it rolled beyond 100 feet.  Behind him was Melissa Hoyt who was inserted into the game for defense.  The ball got by her and she hit the ground and made the play.  This was her first defensive stop of her 4 year career.  Never before had her teammates seen her smile as wide as she did as she trotted off the field keeping the Renegade lead at 3-0.  With 2 outs in the 3rd, the Renegade bats caught fire as Joey Buizon and JJ Ward came off the bench to score run on 3 pitches and on the 4th pitch, Shayne Cantan plated the 3rd run of the inning.  Boston would go up 6-0.  Scott Hogwood would plate the only run for the Wolfpack in the 5th inning as the Boston Defense was on fire.  The Renegades would win game 1 of their home tournament and get confidence that each and every player could contribute to their wins.

This was a game Boston was waiting for.  A chance to redeem themselves after New Jersey took it to them in New York.  This would be the second game of the day and New Jersey had already faced some drama in their first game against Long Island.  In that game, Jersey scored 7 runs in the top of the first inning only to have Long Island score twice in the bottom of the 6th to beat them in a come from behind victory 13-12.  New Jersey also lost one of their star players to injury, Paul Daye.  Two teams heading in opposite directions as the Renegades were fired up to play.  New Jersey won the coin toss but that would be all they would win in this game as the Renegades put up 7 runs in the first inning which marked the 3rd biggest inning in team history.  New Jersey would come to the plate and put three balls into play and they would go down 1-2-3.  Boston would tack on 3 more runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings and find themselves up 13-0 after three innings which invoked the 12 run rule.  This would be only the third time in team history that the Renegades had 12 runned an opponent.  The defense went on to the field with the goal to finish what they had started.  New Jersey battled as they put 10 of their first 13 balls into play.  The Boston Defense would eventually shut out New Jersey (its 4th career shut out) and this would be the best game the defense had ever played as it made stops on all 10 balls the opponent put into play.  Offensively, Boston would hit .619 in the game which would be only the 2nd time in team history the team hit over .600 in a game.  Boston would be led by Shayne Cantan and Dino Vasile who each notched their 5th career 4 run game.
