The Woburn Lions pitch to their own team and we allow them to take their blindlofd off if they can’t hit it…but they must run with the blind fold on…which is normally pretty funny to watch

Taking hacks with a blindfold on is not easy

Its very rare for a Lion to make a play on defense…but it does happen..and they get better every year!

Bryan Grillo is the Renegade who introduced us tot he Woburn Host Lions so its fitting he and the Lion are in this picture.

On Sunday, September 11th at 12:00 in Woburn, the Woburn Host Lions will be taking on the Renegades in a charity beep baseball game.  The game will take place at the Joyce Middle School located at 55 Locust Street in Woburn Mass.  The game will end at 1:30 and after this, the group will go to the Crowne Plaza Hotel located in Woburn at 15 Middlesex Canal Park Dr for a post party.  Come join the Renegades and the Lions for an afternoon of beep baseball and then grab some food afterwards at the Crowne Plaza and celebrate the Renegades amazing 2016 season.

The Woburn Host Lions have been working with the Renegades since the 2009 season.  Every year they run an event with the Renegades.  They have played us in numerous games.  They have sponsored an afternoon at the movies where we debuted our documentary on the screen (and our coach got engaged in front of the crowd as a surprise to all).   They have also hosted multiple games with out of town NBBA teams including the 2015 Beast of the East title tournament.  This year, they are looking to celebrate our success with us.  We invite all Renegade family and friends to join us for a fun game and to celebrate with the Renegades on their successful 2016 season!

Renegades take on the Woburn Host Lions on September 13th

On Sunday, September 13th, the Boston Renegades will take on the Woburn Host Lions in a fun exhibition game.  The event will begin at 12:15 and will be played at the Joyce Middle School, located at 55 Locust Street in Woburn.  The Woburn Lions have been one of the Renegades biggest supporters over the years as we have played many games against them.  They also helped host our movie event in Woburn last June and they hosted a double header in Woburn against the Long Island Bombers in 2012.  This past July, they helped us put on an amazing tournament on two fields.  Not only did they organize the whole thing, but they also raised money for all of the teams that attended.  This year, the Lions are excited because they have Renegade, Dino Vasile as part of their club.  They have hopes that Dino can teach them enough about the game to give the Renegade a run for their money…and since Dino did not attend a single practice this year, he will be suiting up as a Lion in this match.

The Woburn Lions pose for a picture before the games begin A swing and a miss. On these games, we have the Lions pitch to themselves…and when they can't hit, we let them try hitting without their blindfolds Its not easy throwing to a bunch of sighted guys :)

Come on down to this event and see some of your favorite Renegades take on the Lions.  Its sure to be a fun time, with some trash talk, and laughs. If you are interested in potentially playing or volunteering for the Renegades in the future this is a perfect time to come, see the game played, meet the team and even give the game a try.  Please email us at bostonrenegades@gmail.com if you have any questions.  All of our fans are invited to this fun event….just bring a chair or blanket to sit on and remember to hold your applause till after the play is over.  Come hear the passion of Renegade Beep baseball!

The Renegades March in Woburn Host Lions Halloween parade

Photo of the Renegades marching in the 2012 Lion's Halloween paradeOn Sunday, October 28 the Boston Renegades participated in the Woburn Host Lions 58th Annual Halloween Parade.

The Lions go all out for this event and made the Renegades feel welcomed by building us a float.  We were even the lead float for the whole parade!  We gathered a group of players, coaches and family members all decked out in Renegade uniforms and had a blast.  We waved to the fans, gave away about 1,200 pieces of candy to kids and made some noise.  One would think the Renegade cheers, the beeping balls and the buzzing base would be heard.  It was tough to get over the roar of the crowd and the roar of a race car that followed us in the line up.

The Renegades want to thank the Woburn Host Lions for their continued support of our program.  We look forward to supporting them again next year in both their Lobster bake  and halloween parade!

Woburn Daily Times Chronicle Captures the Lions Supporting the Renegades Beast of the East Title

The Woburn Lions have been playing against the Boston Renegades for three years but this season, they hosted a double header between the Boston Renegades and the Long Island Bombers to crown the Beast of the East champion. The Renegades are very thankful to the Lions for their continued support. They organized a great event that included food, T-Shirts, umpires, volunteers, lining the fields and many more contributions. We hope this may be the start of something even bigger for the future. Renegades have a photo gallery in the Bridgewater Independent

On Saturday, September 17th, the Bridgewater Academy Lions and the Bridgewater Lions hosted an exhibition of beep baseball between the Renegades and the Lions. On a gorgeous fall day, the Renegades showed the town of Bridgewater what people who are blind are capabale of and gave them an opportunity to try it for themselves. These Lions clubs are big supporters of the Association of Blind Citizens and we wanted to make sure people had a chance to see one of the ABC’s programs in action. Click here for the photos
