2008 Renegades Look to build on first ever winning season!
| The
Boston Renegades are entering the 2008 season after having their most
successful campaign in 2007. Boston won 10 games in 2007 after
winning only 12 games in the previous six seasons. The 2008
season will provide many challenges as they will not take anyone by
surprise. Boston will open the season in Long Island at the end
of May with games against Pennsylvania, Long Island and Chicago.
They will then head home where they will play a double header at
home for the first time since 2005 against Pennsylvania at the end of
June. July will see the Renegades travel down to Philadelphia for
games against Cleveland, North Carolina and Pennsylvania for the 4th
time in 2008. The 2008 World Series is being held in Houston in
July where Boston will be the 10 seed in a 15 team tournament. |

Catch the Action in 2008!
Only
once in NBBA history have two teams faced off in live action in the
Boston area. For the first time since 2005, Boston will host a
double header against a new East Coast Rival, the Pennsylvania Wolf
Pack. These teams have faced each other five teams in the past
two years. Boston won the first three contests but has dropped
the most recent two games. Pennsylvania hurt Boston bad by
dealing them their first loss in double elimination at the '07 World
Series. Come out and see World Series All star players such as
Offensive speedster Luis Marquez of Boston and Defensive genius, Greg
Gontaryk of Pennsylvania. These two teams will face each
other at least four times in 2008 and you will have the chance to see
them battle on Saturday, June 28th at Fillipello Field in Watertown.
Game times will be 9:00 am and 12:00 pm
A Boston Icon Retires in 2008
 |
One of
the Original Boston Renegades decided to hang up her spikes in 2008
after playing ball for the Renegades in their first six years of
competitive play. Number 11, Kae Rausch was an important part of
the Renegades for years and her presence will be missed. Kae was
a pioneer for Boston as she was the first woman to travel and play for
Boston. On the field, Kae retires 11th all-time in games played
for the team as she played in 25 games over her career. Her
offensive high lite came on a run scoring hit against Long Island in
front of her home crowd in 2005. Defensively, she was a platoon
starter at Third base in the 2003 season where she recorded two
defensive stops. Her role on the team went way beyond her stats.
She earned the respect of the entire team as she was the first
ever person nominated and elected captain of the team as she joined
Darren Black as co-captains in the 2004 season. Kae was a
part-time coach in 2005 and was considered a mentor too many on the
team. She not only helped recruit many of the team's players but
she also was instrumental in educating all of the volunteers about how
to work with the visual impaired. She was always well spoken,
respected and was the face of the team in front of the press.
Though Kae will be hanging up her knee pads and spikes in 2008,
her hard work and determination will live on in Renegade lore for many
years |

Boston All-Stars in 2007
For the first time in team history, Boston had three different players earn All-star awards in the 2007 season.
- Luis Marquez was named to two
offensive all-star teams for his first awards of his career.
He placed 2nd in Chicago by hitting .600 (12-20) and then hit
.600 in the World Series (18-30) to tie for 4th in the entire World
Series. Luis is considered by many in the league as one of the up
and coming stars of the sport.
- Darren Black was named a defensive
all-star in the Bolingbrook tournament by placing 6th in the tournament
with 12 defensive stops in only 4 games. This was Darren's fourth
defensive all-star award in this tournament and his 7th award of his
career making him the most "trophied" Renegade in team history.
- Joe Quintanilla earned the Offensive MVP
of the 2007 Long Island Classic by leading all players with a .600
Average (9-15) in this four team tournament. He came into
this tournament with this goal in mind and dedicated his performance to
his father who was fighting cancer.

ESPN Visits the Beep Baseball World Series
| ESPN
was at the 2006 World Series in Cleveland Ohio this year. They
put together a great production explaining the game and some of its
players. Boston was very familiar with the players mentioned in
the video as they faced off against all of these teams in 2006.
The West Coast Dawgs were represented in the video by Lupe Perez
and Chance Cranford. Perez scored 5 times in 6 trips to the plate
and led the Dawgs in put-outs wth 4 against Boston. Chance
Cranford was a perfect 6 for 6 against the Renegades in 2006 and 5
for 6 in 2005. This Dawg Combination was responsible for 50%
of the runs scored in their game against Boston as they banged in 11 of
the Dawgs 22 runs. Kalari Girtley from the Chicago Comets was 1
for 9 with 2 put-outs against Boston in 2006 after she went 3 for 6
against them in 2005. (Click the link to the right to see the 10 minute
video on ESPN, Make sure to turn those speakers on.) |
